eight main genres and counted how many CCGs were released
in each:

High Fantasy 22%
Horror 4%
Low Fantasy 12%
Science Fiction 13%
Historical/Realistic 13%
Sports 5%
Superheroes 5%

ANIME/TOON: Anime or cartoon topics but not superheroes; Ani-Mayhem and Groo.
HIGH FANTASY: Magic and myth-heavy worlds, as found in Magic:The Gathering and Legend of
the Five Rings.
LOW FANTASY: Best described by phrase "It's the real world, but..." Includes games like The
X-Files, Mortal Kombat, On The Edge and Highlander.
SCIENCE-FICTION: Games in which technology and/or space exploration are a major factor
but which are otherwise based in the real world Includes Netrunner, Doomtrooper and
Wing Commander.
HISTORICAL/REALISTIC: Deals with either history (like Dixie and Eagles) or realistic possibil-
ities (as in Tank Commander).
SPORTS: Athletics
SUPERHEROES: Spandex-clad battles of good and evil.
