• Brad Bird, an animation director
for such cartoons as "The Simpsons" and
"The Critic," has signed on to direct an
animated feature film adaptation of the
Ted Hughes novel "The Iron Giant,"
the story of a mysterious giant metal
machine that finds humanity through its
friendship with a young boy.

FOX also continues to release episodes
of the "X-Files" to home video and
laserdisc, and has also begun releasing
episodes of "Millennium."

• X-Files creator Chris Carter and
horror god Stephen King are collabo-
rating on a script for an upcoming episode
of The X-Files.
