first strike

Intense and long.

In three words, that was what the final round
of the Seniors part of the New York Magic: The
Gathering Pro-Tournament was like. In fact, it
was so amazing we decided on a launch date for
the magazine we've been planning for months.
It's time!

mastyr magazine will be out in April and will
provide gaming professionals with all the infor-
mation they need to keep abreast of new trends
in deck-building, game strategy and tournament
play. Frankly, we don't think you need to play in
a tournament to be a pro - we hope mastyr will
give you the edge to become master of whatever
game you choose - whenever you choose. There's
a sneak preview of the types of things you might
see in Issue #1 of mastyr in this issue of SCRYE
...an interview, play analysis and commentary,
and opinion, written by top players, about the
top players and the real people who play. Our
preview centers around the New York tournament,
but you can look to mastyr #1 for complete
coverage of all your favorite games, including
Middle-earth: The Wizards, Star Wars, OverPower,
Shadowfist, Highlander, Guardians, Red Zone,
Rage... so all you have to do is wait until April!

We leave in a couple of days for the GAMA trade
show. There I hope to get my first real look at
The X-Files, Arcadia: The Wyld Hunt, Dicemaster,
Mythos, Netrunner, Dark Age, Anime Wars,
Star Trek OS, and

Monty Python and
the Holy Grail. And
that's just a partial
list! I'm looking
forward to report-
ing the exciting
details to you in
the next issue.

It will easily be the
most interesting
and busiest GAMA
trade show ever. It
kicks off with Wizards of
the Coast demonstrating
Netrunner to their
distributors.

Single card prices are
settling down for both ME:TW and Star Wars
after a chaotic start. Expect to see prices even out
in #15.

With the third and final shipment to stores of
Star Wars Limited, Star Wars single card prices
reached a more normal, realistic level. We've
heard that Decipher shipped 200 million
Limited Edition cards to the US and another
100 million for foreign countries.

My Sane Print Run of '95 Award goes to I.C.E.
who shipped a very reasonable 45 or so million
Limited Edition ME:TW cards. It's already getting
very hard to find unopened packs and boxes. The
first Unlimited printing ships in late March.

Winners of the SCRYE Draw at VisionCon:
J. Hadsall, J. Glas, B. Monroe, and B. Thompson.

And would Dennis of Massachusetts who sent
us the cool envelope with the dragon logo
(appearing in SCRYE #8) kindly contact us?
The company who's logo you drew would like
to reward you with a T-Shirt.
