Scrye 4/2 - 12 - X-Files CCG: Mention

TIDBITS, SECRETS
& WHAT NOTS

Decipher has canceled the
Holodeck expansion for Star Trek
CCG and replaced it with an
expansion (unnamed yet) which
focuses on new battle elements.

FPG has indefinitely postponed
its 1997 CCG releases and is con-
centrating its efforts on art book
publishing. Luke Peterschmidt,
previously Director of Publishing
for FPG, has been hired by Five
Rings Publishing to work on Rage.

Chaosium's Elric CCG, Eternal
Champion, has been rescheduled
for Spring of 1998.

Bruce Neidlinger of I.C.E. tells
us that the next Dicemaster expan-
sion is deep in playtesting but that
it's too early to set a release date.

The Babylon 5 CCG license was
secured in mid-March by a very
successful long-time game compa-
ny. We've been asked not to reveal
the company's name until next
issue, but we did learn that they
hope for a Holiday '97
release date.

WotC watchers:
Take their Great
Dalmuti card
game, add in Dil-
bert's name and
new Dilbert draw-
ings, have Richard
Garfield change
some things (now
it's a 4-7 player
game) and we

have Corporate Shuffle...
coming in May. Also,
three(!) Robo Rally
expansions are scheduled this
year: in March (Crash and Burn),
July and September.

Titanic Entertainment's (Activi-
sion) real-time strategy computer
game NetStorm looks really cool
(coming this summer for the
PC/Internet).

Out in San Diego, Bob Mitchell
has left his position as President of
NXT Games. Replacing him is Bob
Cocchia, who will "be instrumen-
tal in executing the vision of our
company." Meanwhile, majority
owner, Duncan Macdonell, has
left NXT Games (along with Ryan
Vener) to start up an internet game
company. Les Kollegan has
become Sales Director.

How quickly things change: At
their GAMA booth, besides show-
ing retailers Marvel Super Dice,
TSR had a sign up saying "No
Chapter 11, No New Owners."
They haven't shipped most prod-
ucts since November but they
thought product should begin
shipping again by mid-April.
Marvel SuperDice is now scheduled
for June and Dragon Dice Frost-
wings may be released as soon as
late April.

Verbatim: Here's an excerpt
from a March 20th WotC
two-page(!) Press Release:
WotC goes online with
CompuServe. "We are
truly excited about the
opportunities this relation-

ship with CompuServe will provide
for our customer," said Peter Adki-
son, president and CEO of WotC.
"CompuServe is very pleased to be
associated as a partner with Wizards
of the Coast, a company with the rep-
utation of being the leader in the
trading card industry," said Beth
Sibbring, director of transaction
revenue at Compu-Serve.

Seattle: Gaming Mecca!

Seattle is becoming the coolest
city in the country to play games.

WotC has recently opened their
first GamePlex near the University
of Washington campus, on Uni-
versity Way (Seattle area). It is
intended to be "a one-stop loca-
tion for every type of game, from
classic board games to high-end
simulators."

The Gameplex has a BattleTech
center, M:TG area, retail area,
board and card games, and a
concession stand.

The first Gameworks (a joint
venture between Spielberg's
Dreamworks, Seagrams, Sega
and Universal Studios) opened in
March in Seattle and features the
latest in video game technology.
This will be the first of more than
one hundred Gameworks planned
to open around the world in the
next five years.
