PLAYERS GUIDE
SPOTLIGHT:
THE X FILES
COLLECTIBLE CARD GAME

X-FILES CARD DESCRIPTION

A. Name: A secret combination of runes that allow you to... oh, who
are we kidding? It's the name of the card.

B. Type: Where you'd slide the card in your binder, if you were sorting
by purpose. The green label means it's an adversary: a spooky thing that
you've got to defeat, lest it put your agents in the hospital.

C. Keywords: The distinguishing characteristics of the card.

D. Activators: Special Keywords that determine when a card may be
played. The Poltergeist can attack only at a site with an Occult
Investigation skill check, for example.

E. Combat Statistics: When the agents finally engage the 'Geist in
combat, these numbers come into play. The yellow circle holds the value
for long-range combat; the red one tells the value for close-range; and
the blue one shows how much damage the critter can take before dying.

F. Effects: How the card behaves when you play it. Capitalized words
in the text are Keywords.

G. Story Line: Where you might have seen this scene before on the
television show.

H. Cost: The number of points to play the card. The hand-shaped
icon indicates that the three points come from your Conspiracy pool.

Federal agents battle against the inhuman plots of heartless
conspiracies in NXT Games' X-Files Interactive Card Game. While you're
active, you'll send teams of skilled investigators to sites all over the
world in search of the clues you'll need to expose your opponent's X-
File. When you're not, you'll be the unseen hand trying to keep your
opponent's agents from discovering your secret nature. Think you can
hold your own with the likes of Mulder and Scully, or the aliens and the
Men In Black? The truth is... in the cards.
