SIMPLE STRATEGIES
and DECK DESIGNS
for BEGINNERS by andy graumann

Mystery, suspense, intrigue,
the unexplained...welcome to
The X-Files Collectible Card
Game. Like the television pro-
gram upon which it is based,
The X-Files CCG opens up a
world of bizarre and com-
pelling adventure for those
brave and resourceful enough
to attempt to discover its secrets.

The X-Files Collectible Card Game puts
you in the shoes of FBI agents like Scully
and Mulder. You'll use deductive reasoning,
wit and skill to try and uncover the truth
about your opponent's current X-File before
his network of spies, moles, and adversaries
puts an end to your meddling. In this game of
investigative cat-and-mouse, you're never sure
about what's true and who you can trust. That's
why your friends - and we are your friends - in
the Bureau have prepared this guide for field agents.

GOVERNMENT PROTOCOLS:
Playing Strategies
Being a government agent means that, no matter
what you do, you've got to do it by the book. In our
case, that's the X-Files rulebook. Each turn is divided
into seven phases, each with its own legal and illegal acts.
In order to crack these cases, you've got to know when
you can make your moves, and how.

Briefing Phase. During your briefing phase, your non-
hospitalized agents contribute resource points (RP) to your
pool. You can use RPs to buy additional cards for your
hand now, but be careful not to buy too many. Since no
player may have more than seven cards in their hand
at the end of any turn, you may have to discard,
thus wasting your valuable RPs.

If it's your opponent's briefing phase, you
can sell cards with an RP Cost
for an equal number of Con-
spiracy Points (CP). It's a good
idea to have at least 7 to 10 CP at
all times, as CP Cost cards tend to
be expensive, but selling too many of
your RP Cost cards can cripple your
Agents' offensive capabilities.

One good card to play during the
Briefing Phase is Red Tape. This card is
played during your opponent's turn and
prevents him from drawing any cards for
