Round One Highlights
Magic vs. Doctor Who
TO KICK THINGS OFF perennial-favorite
Magic butted heads with Dr. Who, the only
game we've awarded a review rating of
one. Was a major upset in the brewing?
Can the Jets beat the Packers? While Dr.
Who was busy gathering aliens from the
past, present and future, Magic simply Fire-
balled his ass.
Star Trek vs. Star Trek
THE MARQUEE MATCH-UP of the first
round: Star Trek: The Card Game (the orig-
inal crew) versus Star Trek: The Next Gener-
ation (duh). Both games have a strong fan
base, and both, coincidentally, have a ship
named Enterprise, so this battle would prove
once and for all which game was better.
To start things off, the original-crew
tag team of Kirk and Spock led a daring
mission to destroy a hoard of renegade
Tribbles. On the verge of being over-
whelmed by a band of vicious Next Gen-
eration Ferengi, Star Trek: TCG was able to
throw a red-shirt in the way to protect the
rest of his crew and voyage on.

The two competitors traded several turns
back and forth, each completing a mission
here and an episode there. Finally, Star Trek:
TNG grew bored with the proceedings and
brought The Borg Ship into play. Two turns
later the Enterprise-D watched from a safe
distance as the Borg blasted the original
series Enterprise to pieces.
Mythos vs. Middle Earth
MEANWHILE, Mythos and Middle-earth
were locked in a heated battle. Both sides
were nearing victory - Middle-earth
needed just four more marshalling
points. Having just recruited the aid of
the Ents of Fangorn, Middle-earth was
on the cusp of victory as Gimli and Lego-
las headed to Moria to retrieve Durin's
Axe; fortunately for Mythos, Cthulhu was
available to eat the ancient dwarven
mines, Balrog and all.
Mythos seized the opportunity and sent
