BATTER UP!
TOURNAMENT RULES AND DECK
CONSTRUCTION TIPS
It is considered to be the most
difficult thing do in sports.
A pitched fastball will arrive at
the plate in four-tenths of a second.
A batter has two-tenths of a second to decide
if he wants to attempt to hit the ball.
The ball is over the plate for less than
twenty-thousandths of a second.
For a batter to simply make contact with the
ball is an achievement.
For a batter to put a ball in play
is a skill beyond reason.
Now imagine trying to hit that ball.
In a game.
With the ball changing speeds.
With the ball changing locations.

Top Of The Order is an
interactive collectible card
game in which you play the
part of a Major League
Baseball manager. You get to
draft a team of players (pro-
viding they are in your collec-
tion) and set a batting order.
You decide what types of
pitches and swings to include
in your deck. Of course, a lot
of your decisions will be
based on the skills of your players, as not everyone can throw
a skilled fastball. All of the players in Top Of The Order have
game abilities based on last season's actual statistics. This
creates a value intrinsic to the card since a player's skills will
change from season to season. Top Of The Order also has a
glossary of terms that will have you talking like a baseball fan
in no time. NXT Games and Donruss, the creators of Top Of

QUICK RULES
1. Draft a Team. Flip a coin to
decide who drafts first (the other
player will be the home team and
may decide what size park the
teams will play in). Each manager
must select a total of nine players (a
starting pitcher, a catcher, four infielders, and three out-
fielders). These players are placed on the table in front of
each manager and arranged into a batting order.
2. Shuffle Your Deck and Draw Seven Cards.
3. The First Player Is Up to Bat. The manager whose team is
at bat selects a swing (upper right-hand corner of each card),
while the manager of the defense selects a pitch (upper left-
hand corner of each card). Each player is rated to determine
what types of swings and pitches he can employ.
4. Reveal the Plays. Flip the top card of the Draw Deck
and find out how well your player executed the
pitch/swing selected. Players use a game chart to look up
the results of the pitch/swing you chose to determine the
results of each at bat.

there is a tie, play extra innings until there is a victor.
LEAGUE RULES
1. The Selection.
Two variations can
be used to deter-
mine the players
available for the
draft. The first
variation is the free
form method.
Managers simply
bring their players
the draft. With this
method, a manager would
be unable to bid for a player
unless he has that player in his
