Scrye 17 - 4 - X-Files CCG: Mention
first strike
The summer is officially over and we are left to await the release of Fall's excit-
ing lineup of new products. From the licensed games and expansions of Star
Wars, X-Files, Star Trek: The Next Generation, DC OverPower, Battletech and Vam-
pire The Sabbat to the release of Mirage, Dark Age and King Ironheart's Madness,
high quality products will line store shelves well into the holiday season. Dollars
will have to be spent wisely, as there are so many ways to spend them. Stores
have already been conservative in their orders remembering the fall of 1995. It
almost seems like the manufacturers listened to our pleas in Issue #16, as many
September releases were rescheduled for October and November. Alliances has
done well for all involved and is following the pattern we expected so far. Prices
for most of the Alliances single cards dropped as supply met demand after the
second shipment, however, the more sought-after cards continue to rise and sta-
bilize.
Issue #17 appears with changes befitting the fall season of retrospection. I'll
look forward, not only to your comments on our new Card Watch section and
the expanded Four Corners, but also to your ballot entries for the 2nd Annual
SCRYE Readership Awards. The time you take to fill out the ballot and the ques-
tionnaire, not only gives you chances at winning great prizes but also allows you
to really reach out and applaud the products you enjoyed this year. I know it
takes extra time and a 32ยข stamp, but I think your opinions need to be voiced.
Every category has three winners (Platinum, Gold & Silver). Honored manufac-
turers will receive award certificates and the right to use the award logo on their
products and in advertisements. There's even a category for Worst [fill in the
blank] so let them have it! Plus, you get your chance to tell us what you like
about SCRYE and what you want us to change. So turn to page 9 and get to it! I'll
personally read all of the award surveys as they come in so you can address them
to me if you like... that's JM White. I'll look forward to hearing from you! Oh and
don't forget to send in your X-Files contest entry!

An Apology to Readers for Issue #16:
Please accept my personal apologies on the shortcomings (or rather the short
Alliances list) in Issue #16. The 6x9 SCRYE Check Card for Alliances was a quick
fix and if for some reason you didn't discover it, it had the full price list and was
polybagged with Issue #16. The full list appears in this
issue with the long-awaited A New Hope Prices. If you
need another copy of the 6x9 Alliances list let me know
and I'll send you one. Thank you for your patience
and understanding!
