Scrye 18 - 17 - X-Files CCG: Mention

U.S.P.C. News
X-Files

80 million Premier Edition X-Files cards will
alrive in stores as early as November 15.

Coming next is the 2nd Edition, currently
scheduled for early January. Thirty Rare cards are
replaced with new cards. Following in March is the
first expansion, Season 3. Yes, this details Scully
and Mulder's season
three adventures.
Just before going
to press we got to see
final proofs of the X-
Files cards: They
wowed us! NLS
(who is doing the card design) kept improving
and improving the design until achieving this
final result.

We wangled something interesting out of
U.S.P.C. about the X-Files cards: Their "slip."
Slip is how well cards shuffle and "snap" is
how well they bend back.

A slip of 15 is typical for a playing card deck.
Casino quality is around 35. M:TG has an excel-
lent slip of 50-60. The card science wizards at
U.S.P.C. have just created a special double-coating,
dull finish, that has a slip of around 110! No,
they're not too slippery or slick. U.S.P.C's goal is to
produce the best CCG cards on the market and it's
obvious that they are really trying!

I.C.E. News

I.C.E. told us that their Fatty Bolger promo
card for Middle-earth was shipped to them by
Carta Mundi, but then disappeared along the way.
If anyone has one, I.C.E. would like to hear from
you.

Middle-earth: Dark Minions should be out by
the time you read this (it shipped early). The 180-
card set comes with 15 cards (1 Rare, 4 Uncommons,
and 10 Commons) and a 12-page rules insert. The
set is comprised of 50 Rares, 60 Uncommons, and
70 Commons.

The first three Dicemaster products will be out
towards the end of November. They will be fol-
lowed by one or two Dicemaster expansions in the
1st Quarter of 1997 but their names and release
dates haven't been decided on yet.

Dicemaster: Doom Cubes

Our spies have ferreted out of this month's
Final Tap star, the following ultra-secret informa-
tion: As you may
remember, the Doom
Cube dice are Limited

reprinted. Each Doom
Cube has 1 Rare,
3 Uncommon and
4 Common dice. The
set totals 106 dice: 40
Rares, 45 Uncommons,
and 21 Commons.
This further breaks
down to (roughly)
4,000 of each Rare die, 11,000 of each Uncommon
die, and 30,000 of each Common die, leading to a
grand total of 1.28 million dice.

Rage: Legacy of the Tribes

Now in stores is this 210-card fourth expansion
for Rage. It comes twelve cards to a pack ($1.95),

percentage of Commons of any Booster out there,
and at a low price, as well! There's also one chase
card per Booster box of 24 packs.

This expansion features numerous examples of
every tribe's noteworthy warriors, most powerful
fetishes, significant locations and trusted compatri-
ots. It introduces new faces and some old friends
from other Rage supplements.

Artists for Legacy of the Tribes include, Ron
Spencer, Richard Kane Ferguson, Barb Amarta,
